This Acadiana restaurant started off the new year with an announcement that stunned longtime customers.
According to a post published to the Rice Palace Facebook page on Dec. 31, owners Chee Chee and L.J. Gielen of Crowley have decided to close the popular roadside restaurant after 30 years in business. Located at 2015 N. Cherokee Dr. off of Interstate 10 in Crowley, the Rice Palace Restaurant attracted diners from around the country with highly-rated Cajun food, and a relaxed atmosphere with an attached casino, convenience store and trucker’s lounge.
The post said, “We thank you for supporting the Rice Palace Restaurant for the last 30 years. The decision to close the restaurant was not an easy one, but it was the right one. We are eager to see what the future holds. Chee Chee & L.J. Gielen.”…
