Discover Free Parking Spots In Downtown Sioux Falls

So there I was on New Year’s Day, downtown Sioux Falls, stomach growling like I hadn’t eaten since last year (because technically, I hadn’t), and that’s when it hit me: I need to pay for parking downtown, even on a major holiday. Cue the dramatic “DOOH!”

As if that weren’t enough, I also committed the ultimate rookie metered parking mistake: I forgot to raid my glorious cup of loose change before leaving the house. You know the one. The sacred container filled with dimes, quarters, and mysterious coins from other countries you’ve never visited. With no pocket change to feed the meter, I was forced to swipe my debit card for like $4.00 worth of parking fees. I know, first-world problem, right?

Let this be your friendly reminder: the City of Sioux Falls updated its downtown metered parking policy early last summer. Translation? You now have to pay to park downtown six days a week, Monday through Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Holidays apparently do not get a free pass…
