Parade kicks off National Western Stock Show in Denver: What to know

DENVER (KDVR) — The streets of Denver will be flooded with cowboys, longhorn cattle and horses on Thursday to usher in the locally beloved National Western Stock Show.

After 120 years, the NWSS remains a major tradition for many Coloradans. Even those who don’t attend will see the effects in neighborhoods across the metro as residents leave up holiday lights through January in celebration of the Western trade show.

Before two weeks of events, thousands of cowboys and rodeo queens will line the streets of downtown Denver as a stampede of various livestock parade through showcasing animals that will be featured in the events.

“Kids, families, businessmen, and women get to step back in time and see a true western cattle drive with horses, cowboys, cowgirls, tractors, marching bands, and floats,” the NWSS website states…
