Kern County Deputies Arrest Two Suspects Found Hiding on a Train During Attempted Burglary in Keene

January 6, 2026 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on December 31, 2025, Deputies from the

Mojave Substation, Tehachapi Substation and Rosamond Substation responded to a remote area in Keene regarding a train burglary.

When deputies arrived, they located Ricardo Rodriguez (47) and Juan Diaz (41) in a storage container on a train in the area. Diaz and Rodriguez barricaded themselves inside the storage container and refused to succumb to arrest. Deputies were able to take Rodriguez and Diaz into custody without further incident.

Rodriguez and Diaz were placed under arrest for PC 460(B)- Burglary, PC 182(a)(1)- Conspiracy, PC 148(A)(1)- Delaying or obstructing a peace officer, H&S 11377(a)- Possession of a controlled substance, H&S 11350(a)- Possession of a controlled substance, and PC 148.9- False identification to a peace officer.
