Summerville police rescue wallaby from backyard pool after resident’s surprising sighting

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — In an unusual turn of events, Summerville police officers found themselves in pursuit of a wallaby after a local resident reported the marsupial hopping around their backyard, according to a post on social media.

The brief chase concluded when the wallaby leaped into a pool, where officers safely rescued it. With assistance from Dorchester County Animal Control, the wallaby was transported back to its home.

It was discovered that the wallaby belongs to a nearby property, which also houses another wallaby and a kangaroo, law enforcement said.
