ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The man accused of driving the dump truck that ran a stop sign, hitting and killing four workers, appeared in court on Wednesday.
Last November, Michael Ray Vernon, 66, of Eden, was indicted on four counts of second-degree murder without regard and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury after six people were struck in the crash on April 24, 2025. Four of them died as a result of their injuries.
