Man charged after dog hung from bridge, second dog provided protection

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man accused of hanging a dog from a freeway bridge in Grand Rapids, and abandoning a second dog “that appeared to be protecting” the dead animal, is facing three criminal charges for the incident last summer.

It happened in mid-July 2025 at the Wealthy Street bridge over the Grand River near US-131. The dog, named Ghost, was hanged and then cut down, according to a police report…
