After a child was found unresponsive, blue and not breathing in a recliner in the living room, Devan Ansley Adams, 34, and James Daniel Coalson, 50, both of Mableton, were charged with cruelty to children on Dec. 28 at 11:29 a.m. at a residence at 1490 Lake Circle, Mableton, according to arrest warrants from the Cobb County Police Department.
The child was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta via ambulance with a rapid police escort. He was found to have been exposed to fentanyl and opioids after a blood test. A large amount of Narcan was administered to keep him breathing effectively, according to the warrants.
During a search of the residence the same evening, multiple suspected dangerous drugs – including oxycodone, muscle relaxers and suspected heroin – were found inside. The oxycodone was found on top of a nightstand, which was within easy reach of the child. Several more bottles containing oxycodone were found in the bedroom and likely to have been accessible to the child prior to his incapacitation, according to the warrants…
