Santa Rosa County moves closer to massive land swap deal with U.S. Navy

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. — It’s a deal that commissioners say could bring massive economic growth to Santa Rosa County.

Commissioners are in talks with the Navy to acquire Santa Rosa Outlying Field. The 694-acre airfield sits right next to the county’s industrial park, and it’s just south of I-10.

Companies, like Buffalo Rock, Damien’s Ice Cream and Hershey’s, now call the park home. The entire airfield is used by naval aircraft for training every day…
