OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Students returning to Westside High School after winter break found new traffic signs at a crash-prone intersection outside the school’s north entrance.
The signs at 89th and Pacific Streets now require drivers to turn right only, eliminating left turns that school officials say have contributed to multiple accidents over the years.
“The accidents can get pretty serious,” said Dr. Jay Dostal, principal at Westside High School. “We have a lot more near misses than accidents, but when the accidents do happen they are pretty severe.”
