WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A Storm Team 12 Weather Alert is in effect for snow on the way Friday. Before it arrives, be prepared for some rain and thunder Thursday and it could be locally heavy. Rain amounts could easily reach .50″ over south central and eastern Kansas, but farther west they will be much lower. Northwest Kansas will see a rain/snow mix in the afternoon, but road conditions will be fine.
The storm system on Friday will generate some snow, and that’s when road conditions will be start to change (mainly late afternoon and evening). Southwest Kansas will receive the most snow (3-5″), but lighter amounts expected elsewhere with central Kansas getting an inch or two, and Wichita should receive less than 1″.
Road conditions look good for the weekend with sunshine returning on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will warm back up to the 40s, melting away most of the leftover snow…
