Restaurant Closures Leave Albuquerque Patrons Hungry

Throughout 2025 Albuquerque’s restaurant scene experienced a steady stream of closures, capped by a cluster of high-profile shutdowns in December that reflected ongoing financial pressures on local dining establishments.

The most recent announcements came in December, when Canvas Artistry Restaurant & Art Bar and Bosque Brewing Co. both confirmed they would be closing. Canvas shared the news on Christmas Day, saying it would officially shut its doors on Jan. 1, 2026. Just a day later, Bosque Brewing announced it would be closing all of its locations, marking the end of one of Albuquerque’s most recognizable local brewing brands.

Those closures followed others throughout the year that affected a wide range of dining styles and neighborhoods. The Farmacy, which closed suddenly in October, later filed for bankruptcy, leaving employees without pay. The Range Café also closed its Central Avenue location in mid-December, though the company continues to operate other locations around the state.

Scalo, a longtime fixture in Nob Hill, shut down after failing to find a buyer, according to reporting from KRQE. Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro closed in May after nearly three decades in Albuquerque.

Other closures in 2025 included Sombremesa, Voodoo Girl Pizza & Pints, Blaze Pizza and Rusty Taco, leaving New Mexico without any remaining locations of the latter two national chains…
