Critics raise self-defense claims amid criticism in auto-related ICE shootings

DENVER — Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have fired on at least nine people in vehicles in the past four months, with each incident described by the agency as self-defense, according to The New York Times.

The pattern includes multiple incidents in Colorado and a recent fatal shooting in Minneapolis that has drawn criticism from local officials.

In Black Forest, Colorado, in July, ICE officers fired three shots into a vehicle after the agency said two people tried to ram their car into agents during a targeted operation.
