Man hits officer in face, bites another during arrest in Dumfries: police

DUMFRIES, Md. (DC News Now) — An arrest took a turn in Dumfries after an officer was hit in the face and another was bitten, detailed Prince William County police.

The incident happened minutes after 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, in the 168000 block of Richmond Highway. Prince William County police officers responded to the area after a reportedly known man, wanted for shoplifting, was seen entering a business.

Police said as officers were trying to arrest the man, identified as Millyard Nega Marufe, he became combative. As the incident escalated, Marufe allegedly struck an officer in the face and bit another on the forearm.
