Uproot, a new, natural-focused community-owned grocery store in Battle Creek, located at 119 W. Michigan Ave., celebrated its grand opening in mid-November and in the past six weeks, the store has seen a steady stream of customers, said General Manager Stacy Niemann.
The store operates as a cooperative, offering members benefits such as discounts, special ordering and voting rights on store operations and profit distribution.
Uproot’s history traces back to Sprout BC, a community initiative that began in 2010.
