Authorities warn ‘stay off the ice’ as rain and warmer weather move in

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – A man and his two dogs died after falling into Lake Somerset in Hillsdale County Saturday night, according to the Somerset Township Police Chief.

The bodies of 48-year-old Charles Fausak IV and the dogs were found by law enforcement the next day.

As warmer temperatures and rain move into mid-Michigan this week, the ice on lakes and ponds can become dangerous. Local police and fire are advising people to “stay off the ice.”…
