Former Oakes Farms executive seeks to dismiss parts of fraud lawsuit

A former Oakes Farms executive has asked the court to toss parts of a federal lawsuit accusing him of stealing millions of dollars from the local company.

In a motion to dismiss, filed in the Middle District of Florida on Jan. 2, Steven A. Veneziano Jr. seeks to remove his companies as defendants in the suit for “failure to state a claim.”

He argues that Oakes Farms and the other plaintiffs — Oakes Farm Op and South Florida Produce — failed to allege “sufficient facts to invoke the doctrine of reverse veil-piercing,” which would allow them to go after the assets of his businesses…
