Michigan man arrested in connection with incident that closed I-80, troopers say

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – A Michigan man is facing charges after officials said a traffic stop turned into a chase on I-80 Wednesday night.

Iowa State Patrol troopers stopped a pickup driven by John Kucala, 53, at 5:28 p.m. on eastbound I-80 at mile marker 275 in Cedar County, according to an arrest affidavit.

Kucala told a trooper they had no authority over him and refused to provide a driver’s license, vehicle registration or proof of insurance, according to the affidavit.

After backup arrived, troopers told Kucala he was under arrest and ordered him to get out of the vehicle. Officials said he refused…
