New Orleans traffic cameras still plagued by issues despite new fixes, according to report

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans Office of Inspector General has released its latest report on the city’s traffic camera program, noting that while several improvements have been made, many of the changes were implemented only recently and remain informal.

The review follows a OIG report from five years ago that identified numerous issues with the program, including cameras issuing citations in school zones when schools were not in session and tickets being issued past the legal deadline allowed after a vehicle owner was identified—both violations of city ordinance.

The new report recommends that the city continue building a sustainable infrastructure to support long-term improvements.
