WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita man got the maximum penalty on Thursday for a 2024 shooting in a Walmart parking lot.
Ruben Contreras was sentenced to 43 months in prison, or just over 3½ years, for aggravated battery. That was the most prison time he could have received for that charge, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
A jury had acquitted him of attempted first-degree murder in the case.
