Teen charged with killing Snoqualmie girl who was ‘life of the family’

It was around 8:30 p.m. May 30 when Teyoka Brooks heard from her daughter, Azjanae, for nearly the last time.

The 15-year-old girl texted her mother to say she was going to visit a friend in Bellevue. She texted her mother again about four hours later saying she wanted to come home, with a picture of the interior of an apartment, according to an affidavit by the King County sheriff’s office.

“My baby — she was the life of the family. She was outgoing, she was smart, she had a bright future ahead of her and plans for the future,” Teyoka Brooks said by phone Wednesday. “And she did not deserve what happened to her at all.”…
