Mild Days Ahead

High pressure will keep the region dry and pleasant through Friday. Today’s highs will reach the upper 60s to low 70s, but Friday will be warmer. Expect highs in the mid to upper 70s Friday with south winds as the upper-level ridge strengthens over the region.

Overnight lows will also remain mild, staying in the upper 40s to mid-50s Thursday and Friday morning — well above what’s typical for early January.

Saturday: Warm, Wet late in the day/evening

Saturday will be another warm day with highs near 80 degrees. A strong cold front will move through Saturday evening into Saturday night, bringing a chance of rain to the area.

The highest rain potential will be in the northwestern portions of the CSRA, with rainfall amounts expected to be less than a quarter inch across most of Augusta. Winds will also pick up Saturday ahead of the front, with gusts potentially exceeding 30 mph.

Cooling Down for Next Week

Behind the cold front, cooler air will move in Sunday and into next week. Temperatures will drop to near or slightly below normal, with breezy conditions continuing Sunday.
