Knoxville’s grappling with the drug overdose epidemic takes a compassionate turn as the local police department offers continued support for those who’ve faced loss due to this crisis. This Friday, the Knoxville Police Department announced, via a social media post, that the next Drug Overdose Support Group meeting will provide a space for family members affected by drug-related deaths to express their grief and seek solace amongst peers.
The gathering, scheduled for the eve of January 9 at the Public Safety Complex, invites parents, siblings, and other family members reeling from the untimely departures of loved ones. “The Drug Overdose Support Group exists to help family members deal with their loss by showing support, but most importantly, showing they are not alone, and that there are others who have gone through or are going through the same devastation,” the police department shared.
