Salem Fire and EMS Department receives new Stryker chairs to better serve the community

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – The Salem Fire and EMS Department received enough donations to purchase a new piece of equipment to serve the community better: the Stryker stair chair. These chairs help to bring patients who are unable to walk without assistance, or are bed-bound, downstairs in an emergency.

“Our new stair chair was graciously purchased through donations to the fire department,” said David Baker, an EMS captain with the department. “We like to put all of our donations directly back into this community by purchasing new equipment such as the stair chair.”

The department says that since receiving them, those Stryker stair chairs have been used pretty much daily…
