Linn County high-speed chase suspect faces $2 million bond after court appearance

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — New details have emerged following a New Year’s Eve high-speed chase and shooting in Linn County.

Samuel Reese III now faces a $2 million bond after making his first court appearance Wednesday morning. According to a criminal complaint, Reese is charged with three counts of attempted murder of a peace officer, stemming from three separate gunshots fired at a Linn County sheriff’s deputy during the pursuit.
