Yamhill County is warning residents of a unique scam that has arisen in the area over the past two months.
According to a release, scammers are contacting residents via emails fraudulently identified as emanating from the county planning commission.
An example includes an invoice number, due date and the “total amount due” of $4,950. The fabricated bill alleges that the resident is responsible to pay $2,900 for an “application review & processing fee,” $750 for “zoning & compliance assessment,” $600 for “legal & administration fees” and $700 for “public notification & documentation.”…
