Georgetown police search for man believed to have robbed 2 different stores within minutes

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — A search is underway by the Georgetown Police Department as officers investigate two related robberies that were reported to have been carried out by the same man within a half-hour period on Thursday.

Department officials wrote on Facebook that around 8:20 p.m. on Jan. 8, a man walked into the Speedway on Southgate Drive, where officers said he “scammed the clerk” and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police wrote that by 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, the same man went to the Walgreens on South Broadway and claimed he was armed. Officers reported that he took an undisclosed amount of money, merchandise, and gift cards before fleeing and getting into a car.

Authorities described the man as having a thin mask over his face and wearing all-black clothing that had a “white stripe on one sleeve.” His head was reportedly “covered by an unknown item.” He was said to have gotten into a blue GMC Terrain SUV.
