Family That Uncovered Illegal HS Recruitment Practices Files Lawsuit After Son Was Unenrolled From School

The Voyles family has filed a lawsuit against the Jackson (Miss.) Academy and its head of school, Edward Wettach, after their son was unenrolled due to what they allege is whistleblower retaliation.

According to WLBT 3, Jason Voyles created a file “identifying several student-athletes from other schools who were believed to be recruited for the Jackson Academy sports teams, which goes against the rules set by the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools.” Voyles then shared this document with several parents.

Shortly after Voyles called attention to the illegal athletic recruitment practices, he and his family were called into a meeting with Wettach, informing them that their son would be unenrolled from Jackson Academy due to “negativity” created by the document…
