NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY)– A judge sentenced a man to prison for the June 2023 shooting death of Ali Muhammad, the son of a prominent community activist.
Jalen Garces, 28, was sentenced to 28 years in prison for shooting and killing 33-year-old Ali Muhammad on June 29, 2023.
Garces shot and killed Muhammad in the parking lot of his apartment complex on 1st Bay Street in Norfolk. Garces was arrested two days later after the shooting by Virginia Beach Police during a traffic stop. He was charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of murder…
