EVANSVILLE — A 16-year-old Evansville boy made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon to face charges that he participated in a botched robbery attempt that left a Henderson, Kentucky, teenager dead and two others wounded the morning before Thanksgiving.
Ahzare Mahki Murray, whom police apprehended in Kentucky last month, faces one count of murder, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery for the Nov. 26 shooting death of 17-year-old Josiah Villarreal Madrid, according to charging documents filed in Vanderburgh County Circuit Court.
Murray faced charges in the juvenile justice system before prosecutors moved to try him in adult court. He’s one of five teenagers charged in connection with Madrid’s killing.
