BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — A 61-year-old Uber driver is recovering after police say he was suddenly attacked by a passenger without warning during a ride in Broward County last week. The violent incident occurred while the vehicle was traveling in the express lanes of Interstate 95, according to authorities.
Dashcam Video Shows Sudden, Repeated Punches
The assault was captured on dashcam video, which shows the lone passenger launching repeated punches at the driver shortly after being picked up.
Police said the attack appeared to come without provocation, leaving the driver struggling to maintain control of the vehicle. Despite the violence, the driver managed to safely bring the car to a stop on the highway.
Bystanders Step In After Vehicle Stops
Once the vehicle was stopped, bystanders rushed to help, including an off-duty law enforcement officer, according to reports. The suspect was restrained at the scene until Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived and took him into custody.
19-Year-Old Passenger Arrested on Multiple Charges
Authorities identified the suspect as 19-year-old Isaiah Norton.
Police said Norton was arrested on charges including:
