MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – More than a week after a deadly New Year’s Eve crash in Madera County, a family in Chicago is just now learning that one of the victims was their loved one.
28-year-old Djaton Cortez Williams, known to his family as “DJ,” was killed in a suspected drunk driving crash at Road 23 and Avenue 13.

While the family of Isabella Villegas Navarez, the other victim in the crash, gathered to remember her life at a funeral this week, Williams’ relatives were still unaware he had died.
