The Stokes County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Division (SID) began an investigation in the past few months at four different vape shops located in King, Pinnacle, and Walnut Cove. Detectives utilized an undercover officer to make purchases of marijuana and mushroom (psilocybin) products from these stores. Detectives had these items analyzed, and the tests revealed that the marijuana was well over the 0.3%THC legal limit as set forth by the general statute, and the mushroom products contained a percentage of psilocybin, which any amount of is illegal in North Carolina. This led detectives to apply for search warrants for each store. On November 20, 2025, Stokes County Sheriff’s Office SID, along with the assistance of multiple agencies, executed these warrants at Pinnacle One Stop Shop located at 2268 Old 52 North Pinnacle NC 27043, Long Leaf Provisions located at 149 Retail Circle King NC27021, Cloud City located at 1072 North Main Street Walnut Cove NC 27052, and Tobacco & Vape located at 336 North Main Street Walnut Cove 27052. Investigators were able to seize a total of 53 pounds of marijuana, multiple dosage units of psilocybin products, and over $18,000.00 dollars.
These are the types of products that are getting into the schools and into the hands of children and teens across our state, causing sickness or even worse. We obtained warrants for the managers of each store, with a court date to appear in Stokes County District Court.
