17-year-old defendant moved to be tried as adult in Frayser murder case, DA says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A 17-year-old charged with second-degree murder after the shooting death of a 16-year-old in Frayser will be tried as an adult, the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

Memphis Police said the shooting happened at the Family Tire Shop on Range Line Road in Frayser just before 1:00 on the afternoon of September 3, 2025. MPD said a 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital from the scene, but he later died.
