No plans for data center in Newport News, vice mayor says

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The vice mayor of Newport News said that the city has no plans to build a data center, weeks after an online petition had gathered over 2,000 signatures opposing any such proposal.

In a post made to Facebook, Vice Mayor Curtis Bethany said, “I want to be very clear: there are no conversations, plans, or negotiations underway to bring a data center to Newport News. That information is not accurate.”
