An ongoing Fraud Unit investigation into groups of young people conducting banking scams led to Tuesday’s arrest of a 19-year-old man, who is out on a $10,000 bond. Dewaine Gordon was taken into custody by Violent Crimes Division detectives in East Nashville for outstanding warrants related to two recent incidents but is suspected of being involved in several additional cases.
Gordon was identified from surveillance footage after a man’s wallet was stolen in September and his credit card was used three times in two different Opry Mills stores.
Additional warrants were obtained by Fraud Unit detectives after Gordon was also identified as one of six men who approached a man on December 2nd at an East Nashville bar asking to follow them on Instagram. The man offered his phone to the group, who manipulated it for several minutes and when it was returned to the victim, he noticed $750 were stolen from his bank account…
