A Leesburg woman was arrested for theft after skip-scanning $156 worth of groceries at Walmart.
The asset protection team of Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., was reviewing live cameras when they saw 38-year-old Jenae Dana Hill skip-scanning grocery items around 6:05 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
They saw an error message pop up on her self-checkout screen, followed by a blinking red light above the screen. This meant she needed help from a Walmart employee to fix the error and continue the transaction. However, she instead continued to “wave” items in the general area of the scanner and bag them, the report said.
At one point, Hill put a small bouquet of flowers on the counter in front of the scanner, continued “waving” other items and suddenly put the flowers in a bag without “waving” them at all. An associate then intervened only for Hill to become “aggravated.” She stepped in front of the associate, paid for what she scanned and left shortly after, the report said…
