BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – More than 100 Customs and Border Protection agents from operations in New Orleans and Chicago are heading to Minnesota following the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman.
Federal documents obtained by The Associated Press indicate the officers are leaving an immigration enforcement effort in Louisiana known as “Catahoula Crunch,” which began in December with more than 200 officers aiming for 5,000 arrests. As of mid-December, the operation had made about 370 arrests, according to federal officials.
Federal officials have not disclosed whether the shift signals an end to the Louisiana operation, which targeted areas around New Orleans and drew criticism from immigrant rights advocates…
