Mississippi starts the day under a dark, unsettled sky as rain drums steadily on rooftops and puddles spread across parking lots. Water collects fast along curbs, and creeks rise quietly, signaling a developing flood threat that could worsen as the day goes on.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a Flood Watch is in effect from early morning through this evening for much of central, south-central, and east-central Mississippi. Repeated rounds of heavy rain may drop 2 to 3 inches quickly, with isolated totals reaching 6 inches where storms train over the same areas.
