Two injured after police chase ends with 9th Ward crash, St. Bernard Parish sheriff says

Two people were injured Thursday after a wanted suspect led St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies on a chase that ended with a crash in the 9th Ward, according to Sheriff James Pohlmann.

Jermaine Turner, 36, was booked into St. Bernard Parish Prison on multiple outstanding warrants, including two counts of aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated assault and battery of a dating partner and flight from an officer.

Pohlmann said the chase ensued when Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit agents noticed an Infinity associated with the suspect stopped at a former Rally’s near the intersection of Mehle and St. Claude avenues in Arabi. Deputies attempted to box in the suspect, a known flight risk, but the suspect pulled into oncoming traffic on St. Claude and headed west down the eastbound lanes, Pohlmann said…
