City of Eugene invests in affordable housing with land and funds

EUGENE, Ore. – The City of Eugene is taking significant steps to address affordable housing needs by offering financial incentives and land.

The city is providing up to $650,000 in trust funds and a parcel of city-owned land on Hilyard Street between 33rd and 34th Avenues. Recipients of the land or funds must build at least four dwellings and comply with the city’s affordability requirements.

“You know, this is the first time for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund that we have funding and land. It’s fairly new funding source for the city. We just started it in 2019,” Laura Hammond, a housing tools analyst for the City of Eugene, said…
