HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Healthcare workers rallied in front of a Makiki rehabilitation center Friday over a contract dispute, with some family members joining the protest to demand better patient care.
The union United Here Local 5 says more than 200 healthcare workers at at the Hale Nani Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Pensacola Street have been without a contract since the end of December.
“They say contract. We say fight back,” workers shouted during the rally.
Workers demand better conditions
Certified nursing assistants and workers in the dietary, maintenance, recreation and housekeeping departments are demanding more pay. They are upset over slashed hours from 8 to 6 hours per day and understaffing…
