Snow, freezing rain to hit parts of upstate Saturday night

ALBANY — Parts of upstate New York will be under a winter weather advisory by Saturday evening as a storm moves in that could make roads slippery.

Early Saturday, the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory in effect from 5 p.m. on Saturday to 10 a.m. on Sunday for parts of upstate, including northern Saratoga and Fulton counties and into the southern Adirondacks. Mixed precipitation is expected to hit the areas with total snow and sleet accumulations up to 2 inches and ice accumulations around two-tenths of an inch.

Joe Villani, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Albany, said most of the Capital Region will experience primarily rain Saturday evening that will develop around 6 or 7 p.m. Areas north of Saratoga Springs may experience a mix of sleet and freezing rain, Villani said, which will change to rain overnight…
