The Georgia Department of Corrections has officially named Samantha Carter as the new Deputy Warden of Administration at Augusta State Medical Prison, a move that becomes effective on January 16. Prior to this promotion, Carter was serving as Accounting Technician III at Hancock State Prison. In her new role, she is set to oversee various operational departments, including the facility’s business office, property/supply operations, and food service, according to the GDC’s announcement made yesterday.
“Samantha has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and professionalism throughout her tenure with the GDC,” Commissioner Tyrone Oliver was quoted saying in a statement obtained by the GDC website. “We are confident her proven experience and commitment to the GDC mission will ensure continued success as she assumes responsibility for managing the business operations at ASMP.” The appointment is seen as a strategic fit, with Carter’s lengthy career at the department evidence of her capability to adapt and to effectively grow into subsequent higher roles.
