In one of their first actions of 2026, the Albemarle Board of Supervisors have promoted a veteran of Albemarle Fire and Rescue to serve as the new chief. David Puckett has been deputy chief of operations since 2012.
“David has over 27 years serving Albemarle county and its residents,” said County Executive Jeffrey Richardson. “And he has got progressive leadership experiences up through the ranks. Captain, battalion chief. He’s done a lot of fine work in Albemarle County Fire Rescue over the course of his career.”
