Property tax bills on the way. But be warned: USPS changes could affect mailed payments this year

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Property tax bills for the first half of 2025 will start posting next week, with payments due by Feb. 19, but homeowners expecting to pay by mail are being warned now to plan ahead to avoid postal processing delays.

Residents don’t have to pay by mail. The county also offers options to pay by phone, online, or in person. But all must be received or postmarked by Feb. 19 to avoid late penalties.

That could be trickier this year. A notice on the treasurer’s website warns that mailed payments sent close to the deadline could receive a delayed postmark — even if dropped off on time — following changes at the U.S. Postal Service over the summer…
