Police: Fall River shooting suspect hid in closet to avoid arrest

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting last month at Iced Out Pub in Fall River.

In a social media post, Fall River police announced that Juan Ortiz was arrested Wednesday at a home in Rockland. He was reportedly found hiding in a closet before he was apprehended.

Rockland police, Massachusetts State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service helped with the arrest.

Ortiz was taken back to the Fall River Police Department where he was charged with three counts of assault and battery with a firearm, two counts of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, and single counts of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, according to police…
