Children locked in Milwaukee storage unit, woman pleads guilty to misdemeanor

MILWAUKEE One of the two people criminally charged in connection to the discovery of six young children locked in a Milwaukee storage unit has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors.

27-year-old Azyia Zielinski was originally charged with:

  • Child Neglect – Specified Harm Didn’t Occur, Child Under 6 Years of Age (Felony, Four Counts)
  • Child Neglect – Specified Harm Didn’t Occur (Misdemeanor, Two Counts)

In court on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, Zielinski pleaded guilty to the two misdemeanor counts. The four felony counts were dismissed, and read in for the purpose of sentencing.

Zielinski is scheduled to be sentenced on March 19, 2026.
