Library’s Hatch Auditorium opens Jan. 16; 1 Million Cups moves

Sculpture added at Library’s Hatch Auditorium, which opens Jan. 16

The Springfield-Greene County Library District recently added a permanent sculpture as part of the Sculpture Walk Springfield program. The piece, titled Vistalation by local artist Michael Stelzer, has been placed in front of the Hatch Auditorium at the Library Center. The sculpture was made possible by a generous gift from the Hatch Foundation.

“My hope is that this art sets the tone for what awaits visitors as they enter the new auditorium … a most generous gift from The Hatch Foundation and the curating efforts of Sculpture Walk Springfield,” Stelzer said in a news release. “If it makes people wonder, engage and smile … mission accomplished!”

The Hatch Auditorium, a 500-seat event space at the Library Center, officially opens on Friday, Jan. 16, with activities throughout that weekend. Details are available at thelibrary.org.

1 Million Cups moves to Sunshine Event Center
