HIDOE’s new graduation rule for the class of 2030 begins this fall

HONOLULU (KHON2) — For Hawaiʻi residents, money decisions start early in life. Jobs, credit cards and online spending arrive fast.

With this in mind, beginning next school year, Hawaiʻi public school students will face a new graduation requirement designed to prepare them for that reality.

HIDOE moves to tackle its low ranking for educational innovation

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) will require students to complete a financial literacy educational opportunity starting in the 2026 to 2027 school year.
